The Bend Motorsport Park, South Australia, 23rd 24th August 2019

A small group of dedicated HGNA competitors undertook the two day trek to The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend, South Australia to support the Supercars over the 23rd & 24th of August, 2019.

Following an enjoyable experience at the Bend in 2018, plans were cemented some months back to repeat the experience this year. How things can change in just a few months, with the unfortunate passing of Ray Dean who was so enthused in making the journey again. This left a sad and disheartened group to carry on and make the journey without Ray’s usual driving force.

Things did not improve upon arrival, with Paul Tierney experiencing a minor medical issue that somehow escalated to officials in not letting him compete. This left Paul and his supporters, wife Jenny, Elizabeth Wilks, and Trish and John Battersby to be spectators for the weekend, but positively Paul is seeking a medical clearance for CAMS to reinstate his license so he can continue to compete in events scheduled towards the end of the year.

I know that Paul was deeply appreciative of the support and understanding extended to him by the other HGNA members and look forward to bringing more upbeat news from Sydney Master Blast and other upcoming events in the coming days.
